Biography

Costa Rican originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela. Laureate in the Gerty Hass-Olga Mondolfi Four Hands Piano Competition (Venezuela, 2010 and 2011), Latin American Piano Competition of the Unión América Project (Venezuela, 2010 and 2011), AFAF Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition (United States, 2014), AFAF Piano, Strings, Winds and Voice International Concerto Competition (Russia, 2016), La Música del Siglo Competition (Costa Rica, 2016) and Honor Recital Competition of the School of Musical Arts of the University of Costa Rica (2023). She has been recognized four times by the National University of Costa Rica.

Virginia has performed as a soloist with the Kostroma Symphony Orchestra (Russia), the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipal School of Integrated Arts of Santa Ana and the Symphony Orchestra of the School of Musical Arts of the University of Costa Rica, under the direction of Pavel Gershtein, Jorge Luis Acevedo and Santiago Segura. She has recorded for the albums Pianotopy (2019, winner for the Association of Composers and Musical Authors of Costa Rica awards) by Edgar Brenes, Twelve Muses (2022, nominated for the ACAM of Costa Rica awards) by Andrés Soto, and Carlos Escalante Macaya: Music for Piano Vol. 1 (2023).

Virginia participated in the Luz de Luna Festival (Costa Rica, 2016) and the First Meeting of Pianists of Chiriquí (Panama, 2019). He has studied at the Juan Manuel Olivares National Conservatory of Music, Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music, Higher Institute of Arts and the School of Musical Arts of the University of Costa Rica, under the tutelage of Olga Capriles, Domenico Lombardi, Ángela Fuentes, Alexandr Sklioutovski , Tamara Sklioutovskaia and Leonardo Gell. She currently works as a teacher at the Bansbach Music Academy, as well as a pianist for the National Symphonic Choir of Costa Rica and the National Music Center.
